Following a substantial redevelopment, iconic tourism operator Skyline Queenstown has officially unveiled its brand new restaurant and bar, Stratosfare.

Skyline has completely overhauled its famous restaurant and bar, offering a fresh new experience to the 150,000 guests dining there each year.

Chef and guest interaction is one of the highlights of the Stratosfare redevelopment. Guests are able to watch as Stratosfare’s expert chefs prepare dishes using some of New Zealand’s finest produce at interactive cooking stations.

Further enhancing the overall guest experience is the inclusion of a mussel bar, where New Zealand green-lipped mussels are served hot to diners. A central feature of Stratosfare is a purpose-built rotisserie oven where guests can see locally-sourced chicken, beef and lamb cooked before their eyes. A tempting dessert display featuring a vast array of decadent sweet treats is the perfect end to a dining experience.

“We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved with Stratosfare. We’ve aimed to redefine what people expect from a buffet-style restaurant in New Zealand, with a real focus on the interaction between our guests, chefs and food. It’s an all-encompassing experience that our diners are going to love,” Skyline Queenstown General Manager Lyndon Thomas says.

Stratosfare has been launched simultaneously with Skyline Rotorua, which has also completely redeveloped its dining experience.

“The name Stratosfare is derived from ‘Stratos’ – meaning ‘up high’ – and ‘Fare’, a collection of food. It was an obvious choice for both Skyline Gondola properties summing up the elevated location and new dining experience perfectly,” Skyline Enterprises CEO Jeff Staniland says.

“We’ve completely redeveloped our restaurant with a new look and feel, as well as our menu and wine list. All this has been achieved while retaining our absolute focus on providing great service and top quality food, with the most spectacular views in New Zealand,” Staniland adds.

Located high above Queenstown with panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range, Skyline Queenstown’s restaurant is one of the most popular dining experiences in New Zealand – catering for up to 620 guests each night.

The Stratosfare renovation follows other significant enhancements to Skyline Queenstown’s food and recreation offerings over the past 18 months. Beginning with the opening of the market kitchen in June 2013, Skyline Queenstown has also added Stargazing, a Jelly Belly retail store and provides mountain bikers with Gondola access to the world-class Queenstown Bike Park.

Stratosfare is offering a locals’ deal from November 20 to December 18, priced at $59 for adult Gondola and dinner and $28 for children.
