Scope Media shares clients’ stories

Scope Media has had a busy summer sharing clients’ stories in local, national and international media.

The New Year kicked off with the Wanaka Rodeo on January 2. It was a great turnout with 4000 people attending the popular annual event. The Wanaka Rodeo was extensively covered by local media, including this story in the Otago Daily Times.

The Wanaka Rodeo was a precursor event to the prestigious National Finals Rodeo, which is being held in Wanaka on March 8-9. Preview information on the National Finals has appeared in the New Zealand Herald’s travel supplement and Young Country magazine.

The National Finals Rodeo is being held on the same weekend as the Wanaka A&P Show – one of Wanaka’s biggest annual events. The fact that these two events are being held over the same weekend means Wanaka is gearing up for a big weekend, with thousands of visitors due to converge on the tourist town. Stories about the two events appeared on community website WanakaLive, Radio Wanaka, the Wanaka Sun and in the Southland Times.

Also in January, Scope Media helped promote the Wanaka Ambassador programme launch for Queenstown Resort College. Wanaka Ambassador is QRC’s second educational programme (after launching in Queenstown last year) for residents who are passionate about where they live and want to share the love with tourists visiting the area. Participants sign up to a short, affordable course where they learn interesting information about Wanaka’s history, culture and offerings. They’re then equipped to help tourists – ultimately making visitors feel more welcome and getting tourists to spread the word that Wanaka (and Queenstown) is the place to stay.
The Wanaka Ambassador story received wide media coverage, including Inside Tourism, Otago Daily Times, Southland Times, The Mirror, Wanaka Sun, WanakaLive, Radio Wanaka, Scuttlebutt and in stakeholder e-newsletters.
