MEDIA RELEASE FROM BENDEMEER

A team of design experts has been formed to preserve the beauty and outstanding natural landscape of Queenstown’s leading residential lifestyle development Bendemeer.

Management company, Bendemeer Management Ltd (BML), has selected top Queenstown architects and landscape architects to form the Bendemeer Design Committee as the high-quality rural development continues to grow.

Comprising Warren & Mahoney director Ian Adamson, McAuliffe Stevens Registered Architects principal and director Preston Stevens, Baxter Design Group director Brooke Mitchell and LAND Landscape Architects senior landscape architect Joanna Dey, the new committee will facilitate and assist the process of design applications for Bendemeer landowners so that Bendemeer’s design philosophy is protected and enhanced.

Previously, the directors of BML gave design advice to landowners and architects before and during the building process. Advice is centred on the Bendemeer Covenant, which was created as part of Bendemeer’s original resource consent. As the development grows and more properties are being built, the time has come to engage specialists, BML property manager Nicole Timney says.

“By introducing professional assistance with registered architects and landscape architects, Bendemeer Management Ltd and the greater Bendemeer community will be assured of continuity and design integrity in regards to the covenant,” she says.

The Bendemeer Design Committee offers objective advice and does not intend to influence a particular style or built solution.

“The design controls that the Committee acknowledges will provide guidelines to future homeowners so that the overall design vision to preserve and enhance the character of Bendemeer is retained for the future,” Timney says.

“Once a landowner purchases their land we encourage them to meet the Design Committee onsite before they commence their design and build process. Once their design application is lodged, landowners pay a small fee and the committee offers advice to ensure a smooth consent process, ultimately making it easy for Bendemeer residents,” Timney adds.

Bendemeer has experienced a period of rapid growth over the past year and is now fostering a community of passionate landowners. Twelve months ago, Bendemeer had one complete home and two full-time residents. Now, Bendemeer has three complete homes, five homes under construction and another three in the planning/design stage.

“It is moving away from a start-up development into a neighbourhood of likeminded individuals who all enjoy what Bendemeer has to offer,” Timney says.
